It is well known that chess, considered an effective source of mental development and consciousness, is not just a sport. There are grounds for considering it separately from other sports and defining it as both a science and an art. This comprehensive characterisation of chess as an activity indicates that it is a unique set of opportunities aimed at the comprehensive development of the individual: personal, intellectual, emotional and physical qualities. In this regard, the question of the formation of psychological qualities in young chess players through chess is interesting.
