Functional and aesthetic improvement by sequential augmentation of filler injection to nose: a case report focused on functional recovery

Abnormal nasal structure like alar drooping and nasal obstruction may compromise both facial aesthetics and respiratory function. While filler-based techniques have been used for contour correction, their potential role in functional recovery remains underreported. This case report presents a non-surgical nasal augmentation using sequential augmentation of filler injection (SAFI) technique, resulting in both aesthetic and functional improvements.A 26-year-old female presented with nasal asymmetry, nostril deformity, and complaints of nasal congestion, sleep disturbance, and breathing difficulty during exercise.A high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid filler (Elravie Premier Ultravolume-L) was sequentially applied to the paranasal, premaxillary, columella, nasal tip, and dorsum in a regular order as the modified SAFI technique. The patient's Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) score improved from 70 to 5 within one-month post-procedure, indicating a marked reduction in obstruction symptoms. It provides not only morphological enhancement but also functional recovery in a select patient with structural nasal compromise. This case supports the role of filler injection as a minimally invasive, dual-purpose intervention.
