Clinical Role of Ultrasound in Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder (FS) is a clinical diagnosis, made primarily by history and physical examination. The most significant symptoms include pain and stiffness, resulting in limited range of motion both in active and passive movements and a decreased level of activities of daily living.Ultrasound findings such as coracohumeral ligament (CHL) and axillary recess thickening are helpful in the accurate diagnosis of FS.Ultrasound-guided procedures including glenohumeral joint injection and hydrodilatation, subacromial injection, suprascapular nerve and cervical nerve root block, and CHL release improve clinical therapeutic effectiveness based on greater accuracy in the patients with FS.Therefore, ultrasound is a useful imaging method for the diagnosis and treatment of frozen shoulder.(
