Shielding Effectiveness of Metal Plates with Apertures: Simulation and Analytical Model in Reverberation Chambers
Shielding Effectiveness of enclosures with apertures has been an active topic of research for more than two decades. Multiple measurement and estimation methods based on different models and in different experimental settings such as open area test sites, anechoic chambers, and reverberation chambers have been extensively investigated. An analytical model for planewave coupling to cavities with apertures was used to investigate and model the behavior of such cavities in reverberation chambers. This model can be extended to include behavior of planar materials such as metal plates with apertures, in the reverberation chambers, and consequently be used to estimate shielding effectiveness of such plates with apertures. In this paper, this model is used to estimate the shielding effectiveness of a galvanized iron plate with a centered aperture, and comparison is made with simulations using CST software. The results of the simulations show good agreement with the predictions of the analytical model.
