Silent Battle within the Bag of Worms – A Rare Case Report of Plexiform Neurofibroma
Plexiform neurofibroma (PNF) is a tumor of the peripheral nerve sheath involving multiple nerve fascicles as deforming masses within connective tissue and skin. It manifests early in life and is associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 and may transform into a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. A pathognomonic sign of this condition is the “Bag of Worms,” which is also observed in this case along with other characteristic features. Along with the facial features, changes are also observed in the maxilla and mandible. We report a rare case of a 14-year-old female with diagnosed PNF involving oral features.
