Impact of Helicobacter Pylori Infection Eradication on Type 2 Diabetic Chronic Kidney Disease.
Gram-negative, flagellated, spiral bacteria that reside on the gastric mucosa are known as Helicobacter pylori. It is estimated that 4.4 billion individuals worldwide are infected, with a prevalence particularly high in developing countries. This study aimed to detect impact of helicobacter pylori infection eradication on course of type 2 diabetic kidney disease. Methods: This interventional study included 80 patients. The study was carried out at internal medicine department, Banha university hospital during period from August 2022 to January 2023. Results: Participants over 40 years experienced significant reductions in serum urea (p=0.005) and urinary protein (p=0.044), while those ≤40 years showed no significant changes. Females had a significant reduction in serum urea (p=0.043), but other parameters showed no significant changes. Males exhibited no significant improvements in renal function. Severe hyperglycemia participants showed significant improvements in serum urea (p=0.003), estimated glomerular filtration rate (p=0.03), and urinary protein (p=0.01). Non-severe hyperglycemia participants had no significant changes. Conclusion: In type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with chronic kidney disease, the eradication of H. pylori appears to have a beneficial effect on renal function markers, particularly in serum urea and urinary protein excretion, according to the results of our study.
