Alpha Thalassemia at Pediatric Age Group: Review Article
Background: Alpha thalassemia is a hereditary blood condition marked by the lack or deficiencies of alpha-globin chain production Objectives: The purpose was to examine the characteristics of pediatric patients with Alpha thalassemia. Methods: Medline databases (PubMed, and Medscape) were searched and every material accessible in the internet. The search has been conducted on November 2025. The initial search yielded 120 articles. Sixteen investigations fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The articles involved the two genders and included cases diagnosed with alpha thalassemia. Investigations that didn't meet the inclusion criteria have been omitted. Information from every eligible research was independently extracted in duplicate utilizing an information gathering form to capture details on research features, interventions and quantitative outcomes for every result of interest. Significant information was gathered. Then a structured review has been conducted. Conclusion: In total 16 possibly relevant publications have been involved. It has been observed that pediatric alpha thalassemia is generally characterized by mild to moderate clinical presentation, hematological and biochemical parameters were largely within acceptable ranges and most patients required only supportive therapy. Pediatric alpha thalassemia is generally characterized by mild to moderate clinical presentation, with pallor as the most common symptom and minimal hepatosplenomegaly. Hematological and biochemical parameters were largely within acceptable ranges, and most patients required only supportive therapy, with very few needing blood transfusions.
