The Physico-Chemical Study of Pond Water of Raipur City with Reference to Total Dissolved Solids
Water is the most essential substance next to oxygen for human life therefore knowledge of the aquatic environment is important. Pond water is one of the important natural resources of water, thus physicochemical analysis of water is necessary which indicates the quality and status of water. Solids dissolved in water are collectively called Total Dissolved Solids or TDS. High TDS concentration indicates elevated levels of ions that do pose a health concern. Methods like reverse osmosis, electric dialysis, distillation can also use to desalinization or removal of dissolved solid, but they have disadvantages and not cost effective. The effect of Aspergillus species was studied in five different pond waters of Raipur City. For initial growth of fungi, the media is mix with pond water sample so fungal growth initiates properly and absorbed the solids of water and utilizes the nutrient component of pond water. It was found that Aspergillus sp. removes total dissolved solid effectively.
