Impact of Amino Acid, Potassium Silicate, and Sea Algae on Growth and Biochemical Characteristics in Leaves of Navel Orange Trees
The current study examined the effects of foliar applications of amino acid (0.1%), potassium silicate (0.1% and 0.2%), and the sea algae (0.1% and 0.2%), either alone or in mixture, on the growth and biochemical characteristics of leaves applied five times a year in May, June, July, August, and September in the two experimental seasons, respectively, on the fifteen-year-old Navel orange trees grafted onto sour orange rootstock grown in sandy loam with a medium fertility at a private orchard, El-Nubaria, Beheira Governorate, Egypt. Comparing the of effects of all of the treatments, the results showed that the 0.2% algae extract was the most advantageous for both growth and biochemical characteristics of leaves. Moreover, the combined applications are more effective than the separate ones. The foliar spray of algae extract 0.2% and amino acid 0.1% provided the highest levels of growth and biochemical characteristics of leaves when compared to other treatments.
