Nonlinear optical absorption and optical limiting of olive oil by using Z-scan technique
Olive oil is classified as an organic chemical that possesses intriguing nonlinear optical characteristics. As a result, it is an appealing option for usage in photonic applications. The absorption spectrum was recorded using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The emission spectra were collected at a variety of different excitation lines. In order to explore the nonlinear absorption, the Z-scan technique was utilized in two distinct laser modes. The first laser is a continuous laser with a wavelength of 405 nm, and the second is a nanosecond laser with a wavelength of 532 nm. A determination was made on the nonlinear absorption coefficient. A switch from saturable absorption to reverse saturable absorption is explored in each laser mode. The nonlinear optical absorption coefficient measured via nanosecond pulses of Olive was 1.93*10-10 m/ W after subtracting the effect of the quartz cuvette, and the optical limiting threshold was found at 1.18 J/cm2 . Here, it is the first time to determine the nonlinear optical absorption using both of continuous and pulsed lasers. Olive exhibits a promising trend as an optical limiter.
