The He-Ne laser priming agent’ potential alleviative effect on the Vicia faba plant performance under the salinity stress
The rising in soil salinity affected all the physiological processes carried during plant life; new strategies are coming to surface to alleviate the plant performance under the salinity stress. Method: In this study the pretreatment of the seeds with He-Ne laser priming agent for two times 4 and 8 min was estimated for its potential effect on the Vicia faba plant performance under the salinity stress (0, 50 & 100mM). The estimation included the plant meiotic behavior and the viability of pollen grains, proceeded to the protein pattern and GTS% using ISSR markers. Results: 4min of laser pre-treatment showed propagation in the plant performance under lower salinity stress 50mM and reduced the abnormality incidence relative to the control, induced some changes in the protein profiles, and decreased the GTS (70.31%), implying that salinity-induced damage was mitigated. The prolongation of the exposure time to 8 min showed synergy stressful action with high salinity stress (100mM) has its impact on plant meiosis behavior in first meiotic stages, rising the risk of subtle mutations emphasized by some protein bands disappearance and showed decrease in GTS (73.44%) threat with rising the risk of mutant plants in next generation. The pollen study showed correlation between the exposure time and viability. Conclusion: This indicates that 4 min of laser exposure as a priming factor is more effective in alleviating salt stress up to 50mM NaCl than 8 min did.
