Impact of Nano Potassium Silicate and Nano Ascorbic Acid on The Growth and Genetic Composition of Salvia hispanica Plant Grown Under Salinity Stress

This study examined the effects of nano-ascorbic acid and nanopotassium silicate treatments on the vegetative growth, flowering and genetic composition of Salvia hispanica (chia) grown under salt stress for two consecutive seasons in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 at the experimental farm faculty of agriculture of Beni-Suef University. The experiment was designed in a split-plot design with three replications. The main plot was salt water irrigation levels (238 ppm tap water as control, 2000 and 4000 ppm) and the subplot was foliar spraying with two Nano materials compounds (potassium silicate and ascorbic acid) at 2, 4 and 6 ml/L plus control plants, which sprayed with distilled water. All vegetative growth traits (plant height, stem diameter, number of branches and leaves, leaf area, fresh and dry weights) and flowering characteristics (number of inflorescences, inflorescence height and number of florets per inflorescence) decreased gradually with increasing salinity stress as the mean effect for both seasons. In contrary, Nano compound enhanced plant growth especially under salinity stress. The most effective treatments are nano potassium silicate at 4 and 6ml/l as well as nano ascorbic acid at 6 ml/l. Two plants with irregular leaves and inflorescence shapes were found after the treatment of 6 ml/L nano ascorbic acid and irrigated with tape water and the treatment of 6 ml/L nano potassium silicate plus2000 ppm saline water. ISSR referred to genetic differences between treatment and control. Some bands appeared and others disappeared from the samples that treated with saline water and nano compounds compared to control using all primers under study.
