Michigan Cannabis Prices: 7-Year Trends

Michigan’s regulated Cannabis system is structured as two markets but operates as one. Although the statute distinguishes Medical and Adult-Use sectors, production and distribution increasingly function as a unified supply chain. This analysis traces that convergence to sustained regulatory arbitrage, in which medical licenses, lower in cost and easier to obtain, operate as a low-cost production tier supplying the adult-use market through formal conversion pathways. As medical retail demand has declined, cultivation volumes have not contracted at the same rate. The resulting surplus biomass continues to exert downward pressure on adult-use prices and places sustained strain on licensed operators. These dynamics now intersect with a third competitor, the illicit market, which operates without public reporting. The outcome is three supply chains governed by different regulatory regimes but competing for the same consumers. See here- https://tjid3.org/ Tech paper on this is here - https://tjid3.org/tech
