Social Engineering Awareness Among University Students: A Survey-Based Study
This paper presents a survey-based study examining social engineering awareness, online security behavior, and the impact of cybersecurity training among university students at Air University, Islamabad. Data were collected from 120 respondents using a structured questionnaire. The findings indicate that while awareness of phishing is relatively high, confidence in identifying attacks and consistent safe behavior remain limited. The study also shows that students who have attended cybersecurity awareness training demonstrate safer online practices. Practical recommendations are provided to improve awareness and reduce susceptibility to social engineering attacks in academic environments.
