Complete Genome of Salmonella enterica Serovar Mbandaka Strain PSL038 Isolated from a Companion Dog
Salmonella is a notable zoonotic enteric pathogen that causes foodborne illness and various infections in humans and animals worldwide [1].Among them, Salmonella enterica serovar Mbandaka has been isolated from various specimens, including poultry, eggs, feed, cereal products, cattle, dairy products etc.It has been reported in several countries, including Europe, the United States, Brazil, Thailand,.However, the serotype was rarely reported in the Republic of Korea.A rectal swab was collected from a 9-year-old mixedbreed dog exhibiting symptoms of urinary tract infection and hematuria. It was suspended in buffered peptone water (BD Difco, USA).The pre-enriched culture was transferred to tetrathionate brilliant-green bile enrich-Salmonella enterica serovar Mbandaka strain PSL038 was isolated from a dog with urinary tract infection in South Korea. The genome was determined using the PacBio Revio long-read sequencing platform, which consisted of a 4.75 Mb chromosome and a 13.7 kb plasmid.Annotation was performed through the Bacterial and Viral Bioinformatics Resource Center, assigning 4,738 coding sequences. The genome showed a 99.93% average nucleotide identity when compared with that of reference strain SA20026234.In silico serotyping identified antigenic determinants as 7:z10:e,n,z15, and six Salmonella pathogenicity islands (SPI-1 to SPI-5 and SPI-9) were present.
