Fault Location Method Based on Currents Ratio of Bilateral Feeders for Double‐Track Traction Network with Bilateral Direct Power Supply

The traction power supply system of China's high‐speed railway adopts the unilateral all parallel AT power supply mode. In order to improve the train running speed, the bilateral all parallel AT power supply system will be implemented in China. The bilateral traction power supply system has many advantages, such as lower power loss and longer supply distance. According to the put‐into or not of the AT stations and the sectioning post, there are many operation modes in the bilateral all parallel AT traction power supply system. One of the commonly used operation modes is the double‐track operation mode with bilateral direct power supply. The structure of the bilateral traction power supply system is introduced in this paper. According to the simplified circuit of the double‐track traction network with bilateral direct power supply, the voltages and currents are analyzed based on Kirchhoff's law, and a fault location method is proposed based on the currents ratio of bilateral feeders. The simulation results based on Matlab/Simulink simulation platform verify the correctness and accuracy of the fault location method. The proposal of the fault location theory also provides an important theoretical guarantee for the implementation of the bilateral traction power supply system in China. © 2025 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
