Translational research – Coping with children's chronic conditions: The universal challenge for parents and caregivers
The challenge of coping with children's chronic conditions represents a universal phenomenon for parents and caregivers. Regardless of the specific chronic condition, parents and caregivers must learn to balance the needs of the child, provide the child's care, while at the same time manage the needs of their families. Chronic conditions in children create a burden for parents and caregivers in managing their care on a daily basis especially with respect to home care. Moreover, parents and caregivers are challenged to cope with the emotional and psychosocial aspects associated with the child's chronic condition and manage the stress associated with the burden of caregiving.
