Paradigm shifts in management of paediatric myopia
The rising prevalence of pediatric myopia poses a major clinical and socio-economic burden. Understanding the genetic and environmental risk factors for progressive myopia has ushered in paradigm changes in the management of pediatric myopia. Among the various therapeutic options to control myopia, environmental modifications, low-dose atropine, peripheral defocus spectacles, multifocal contact lenses, and orthokeratology lenses have given promising results and many new emerging modalities of myopia control are being studied.
