Continuity of dairy cattle farming after the Foot-And-Mouth Disease outbreak in Boyolali Regency, Central Java Province

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of farmers and analyze the factors that influence the continuity of dairy cattle farming after foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Mojosongo District, Boyolali Regency. The research design used a quantitative descriptive method. The location and sample selection used a purposive sampling method, with a sample of 60 dairy cattle farmers. Data analysis in this study used descriptive analysis, instrument testing with validity and reliability tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the instrument test showed that it was valid and reliable. The results of the multiple linear regression equation were Y=4.741-0.070X1+0.348X2+0.284X3+0.060X-0.044X5+e. The F-test results showed that the f(calculated)value was greater than f(table)with a value of 5.917>2.386, indicating that all independent variables together affect the continuity of dairy farming. The results of the t-test show that the variable that influences continuity of dairy farming is the need for security (X2) with a t(calculated)value > t(table),while physiological needs, social needs, the need for recognition, and the need for self-actualization do not affect continuity of dairy cattle farming. The R2 test result is 0.354. The conclusion is that only the security needs variable affects the continuity of dairy cattle farming after FMD.
