424P Targeting the lipid metabolism–mitophagy axis in TAMs to enhance immunotherapy
Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are abundant in the tumor microenvironment (TME) and are critical mediators of immune suppression. Enhanced lipid metabolism is a hallmark of TAMs, yet how lipid accumulation drives their pro-tumorigenic function remains poorly defined. Mitophagy, a selective form of autophagy that removes damaged mitochondria, has recently emerged as a regulator of immune cell fate. However, whether tumor-derived lipids exploit mitophagy to sustain TAM-mediated immune suppression is unknown.
