411P Transforming pancreatic cancer treatment with targeted immunomodulatory therapy
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterised by an immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment (TME), where M2-type macrophages promote tumour growth and limit therapeutic efficacy. Reprogramming these M2 macrophages into pro-inflammatory, antitumour M1 phenotypes represents a potential immunomodulatory strategy to enhance immune-mediated tumour clearance. Preclinical studies suggest that combining macrophage reprogramming with chemotherapy or stromal-targeting agents can increase cytotoxic T cell infiltration and reduce tumour progression.
