Twenty-One-Day-Old Female Admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for Dyspnea
We report the case of a 21-day-old female neonate admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit due to recurrent cyanosis and respiratory distress. Born at 37+6 weeks via cesarean section, the patient presented with worsening cyanosis, chest retractions, bradycardia, and desaturation following crying episodes. Flexible laryngoscopy revealed an oropharyngeal mass. Surgical excision via suspension laryngoscopy was performed, and histopathology confirmed a congenital oropharyngeal teratoma. The postoperative course was uneventful, with extubation on postoperative day 2 and discharge on day 6. This case underscores the importance of prompt airway evaluation in neonates with unexplained respiratory symptoms.
