Sudoriferous cyst near inner canthus of eye: A case report
We present a rare and unique case of Sudoriferous cyst of the orbit in an adult patient. The unique feature of the cyst is that it presented spontaneously, without any local trauma in an adult whereas the usual presentation is after minor local trauma. There have been reports of presentation in children as congenital cases. Our patient is a 64-year-old male, who noticed a small nodule near the inner canthus of his left eye a year ago. It gradually increased in size over 5–6 months as a painless mass. After a complete clinical assessment, surgical excision of the complete mass was performed under local anesthesia and sent for histopathological examination. The histopathology revealed a single cyst lined by double layered cuboidal epithelium. The lining epithelium is periodic acid Schiff (PAS) positive suggesting its apocrine nature. This confirmed the diagnosis of a sudoriferous cyst.
