Green Chemistry: History, Recent Advances and Applications in Promoting Sustainable Development
Green chemistry offers a proactive framework for minimizing environmental hazards and resource consumption through redesigning chemical products and processes. This review explores the history and applications of green chemistry in promoting sustainable development by examining its principles, industrial applications, economic impacts, and relevance in both developed and developing economies. Emphasis is placed on how green chemistry supports circular economy models, reduces pollution, encourages innovation, and improves public health. Challenges to implementation are discussed alongside strategies for global adoption. The paper concludes that integrating green chemistry through policy, education, and industrial reform is essential for long-term environmental and economic resilience.
