Identification and successful treatment of postoperative shock in a patient with Ebstein anomaly: A case report
A patient with Ebstein anomaly developed refractory shock following cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. Bedside ultrasonography was performed, and moderate-to-severe residual tricuspid regurgitation following initial correction of Ebstein anomaly, patent foramen ovale repair, and folding of the atrialized right ventricle was observed. The folding suture caused interventricular septal thickening and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. Bedside ultrasonography was essential in determining the etiology of the shock and guiding prompt therapeutic adjustment. Reoperation resulted in successful resolution and a favorable clinical outcome.
