Investigating metamemory and its neural correlates in item‐ and associative memory in older adults with mild cognitive impairment

Our findings suggest that metamemory impacts recognition performance and neural activity in MCI, with associative memory especially vulnerable. Incorporating metamemory measures in clinical protocols could improve diagnostic precision and help manage AD risk.
