The roles of encoding, consolidation, and retrieval in problem solving in mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease
Our findings demonstrate that memory consolidation specifically plays an important role in the ability to solve problems in the real world in those with MCI. This was not found in healthy older controls or in those with AD. These results suggest the use of the ISDA is beneficial for determining the specific memory subprocesses that will contribute to difficulties with solving problems in everyday life in MCI.
