Neutron Stars as Coherent Solutions of a Closed Variational Principle
Neutron stars are commonly modeled as compact objects stabilized by pressureagainst gravity within the Tolman–Oppenheimer–Volkoff framework, which relies onexternally assigned equations of state for dense matter. In this work, neutronstars are reinterpreted as coherent stationary solutions of a closed variationalprinciple, formulated within the Universal Ψ framework. In this description, pressure, density, and equations of state are not fundamental inputs but emergenteffective quantities arising from global variational closure. The existence of anarrow and nearly universal neutron-star mass–radius relation follows naturallywithout invoking dense QCD modeling or exotic phases of matter. The transitionfrom neutron stars to black holes is described as a loss of coherent closurerather than a mechanical instability. Current NICER and gravitational-waveobservations are shown to be compatible with this framework. A novel,parameter-free and falsifiable prediction for universal frequency ratios inneutron-star oscillations and post-merger gravitational-wave signals is derived, providing a clean observational test for future detectors.
