Streamlining the Practice of Organ Transplantation among Migrant and Underserved Populations

Organ transplantation has been identified as the best and the most crucial option to save the lives of people suffering from serious or life-threatening injuries and diseases. The recent trends and available statistics on organ donation suggest that the demand for organs goes beyond supply, which indicates the disparities in access, especially for migrant and underserved populations. The objectives of the current article were to identify the organ transplantation-related concerns of migrant and underserved populations and propose targeted public health interventions to overcome these concerns. Acknowledging the presence of a wide range of concerns that make it challenging for migrants and underserved populations to access healthcare services related to organ transplantation, there is a definite need to overcome these challenges. As these challenges are quite diverse, we need a multipronged approach to effectively deal with this public health concern. In conclusion, ensuring the attainment of equitable access to organ transplantation is a critical public health priority, especially for migrant and underserved people. The need of the hour is to implement a comprehensive set of interventions to ensure equitable and ethical access to organ transplantation.
