Challenges and Solution for First Deceased Donor Kidney Transplant in Manipur: The Way Forward
In the heart of Northeast India, where the lush green landscapes meet the majestic Himalayas, a remarkable medical feat took place-the region’s very first deceased donor kidney transplantation was performed at Imphal, Manipu. This momentous achievement not only represents a significant stride in the field of organ transplantation but also stands as a beacon of hope for the entire North Eastern region. Beyond this singular achievement, our hope is that this case report serves as a catalyst for change across the entire North Eastern region. It is our belief that the successful culmination of this transplant will inspire other states in the North east to establish their deceased donor transplantation programs, ultimately reducing the organ shortage and providing countless more patients with a chance at a healthier, fuller life. We present this case report to focus on the challenges and solutions for the first deceased donor kidney transplantation in Northeast India.
