From Fiction to Reality State Continuity Across Games, Stories, and Lived Experience
This working paper addresses the problem of cross-media state continuity: whether and how psychological states traversed in games and narrative fiction relate to states expressed in real-world behavior. Rather than assuming direct transfer or causal influence, the paper reframes cross-media continuity as a methodological question concerning the comparability and alignment of state trajectories across distinct environments. Building on prior working papers that establish games as state-revealing systems (WP-G1), visual–symbolic channels as state encoders (WP-G2), and narrative fiction as a low-resistance state simulator (WP-G3), this paper proposes a framework for analyzing continuity without collapsing differences between media contexts.
