Adapting to Climate Change: Exploring Individuals' Economic Activities and Behaviour in the Context of Environmental Challenges
Climate change presents significant global challenges, impacting ecosystems, economies, and societies. This study investigates the strategies individuals employ to adapt their economic activities and behaviours to climate change challenges. The study identifies key factors influencing individual responses and assesses the effectiveness of various adaptation strategies by analysing empirical data and theoretical frameworks. Using a panel data regression model, the study finds that higher education and certain occupations (e.g., white-collar jobs) correlate with better adaptation outcomes. Effective individual adaptation involves reducing carbon emissions and enhancing resilience through measures like water conservation and disaster preparedness. Findings reveal that individuals adopt a range of adaptive behaviours, including energy conservation, renewable energy adoption, sustainable transportation, and eco-friendly consumption. However, barriers such as financial constraints, limited access to resources, and lack of awareness hinder widespread adoption. The study highlights the importance of targeted interventions, including policy support, educational programs, and community engagement, to promote individual adaptation and enhance climate resilience.
