Worked Example (Abstract)
Worked Example (Abstract) Status: Applicability demonstration without contextual binding Abstract System Consider an abstract system Σ defined by: - a state space S,- an operation set A,- a success predicate Success(s). No semantics are attached to states or operations. Initial Architecture The system allows all operations in A to be generated and evaluated.Rejection occurs only after partial or full evaluation.Energy cost E(a) is incurred for each evaluated operation. Observation at Scale As |A| increases: - the subset of non-viable operations grows faster than the viable subset,- total energy consumption grows superlinearly relative to successful outcomes,- evaluation effort is dominated by operations that can never succeed. Architectural Modification Construct A′ ⊂ A such that: - a ∈ A′ iff a has at least one reachable success state,- operations in A \ A′ are not representable within the system. No optimization or learning is introduced. Observable Consequences After modification: - total evaluated operations decrease sharply,- energy expenditure scales with achievable outcomes, not possibility space size,- failure modes tied to impossible success paths disappear entirely. Invariant The system’s functional capabilities are unchanged.Only non-productive operational paths are removed. Interpretation Constraint This example: - does not reference any real system,- does not imply a specific implementation,- does not assign responsibility or intent. It demonstrates a structural effect, not a policy or strategy.Attached source and canonical renderings: PDF (canonical), TEX (LaTeX source), TXT (plain-text mirror).Relation: Applicability demonstration corresponding to Zenodo record 18048465.
