Research on control strategies for a 24-phase open-end winding PMSM

Conventional control methods encounter significant challenges when applied to multi-phase open-end winding permanent magnet synchronous motors (OW-PMSMs). This paper proposes a novel dual-loop control strategy that combines proportional-integral (PI) and proportional-resonant (PR) controllers for a 24-phase OW-PMSM with independent coils. The method employs modular H-bridge inverters per phase with dedicated PR controllers to achieve independent current regulation for each coil. To eliminate the impact of zero-sequence current on inverter output characteristics, the dual-inverter system is powered by two independent isolated DC power supplies. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and provide foundational insights for future fault-tolerant control designs targeting this motor topology.
