Large Amplitude Flexural Vibration Behavior of Rotating Pre-twisted Cantilever Trapezoidal Plates
Large amplitude bending and torsional vibration behavior of flat and pre-twisted trapezoidal plates are investigated here using the shear-deformable finite element approach. The curvilinear mid-surface of the twisted trapezoidal panels is modeled with a sixteen-node degenerated shell element, formulated by incorporating the effect of large rotation and Green–Lagrange strain-tensor. The single-mode nonlinear vibration behavior of such trapezoidal cantilever plates is investigated by a nonlinear matrix-amplitude equation. The backbone curves for the first four (three bending and one torsional) vibration modes of isotropic and composite trapezoidal cantilever panels are studied at the beginning, with particular attention to the effect of deformation. Thereafter, a representative parametric study is reported to understand the effect of twist angle and rotation speed on the nonlinear free-flexural vibration behavior of such cantilever panels. Moreover, the results elaborated here might serve as benchmark results for future research.
