Misuse of ChatGPT in Learning Activities: Challenges and Solutions for Enhancing Student’s Academic Ethics

The rising use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, particularly through tools like ChatGPT, has significantly affected how teaching and learning occur. While ChatGPT provides students with quick access to information and support, it also raises concerns about academic honesty, many students depend on it to finish assignments without fully grasping the content. This reliance may hinder the development of critical thinking and analytical abilities, which are essential for academic success. This research examines the effects of ChatGPT misuse among vocational high school students in Bandung, with a focus on its implications for academic honesty and possible strategies for addressing these issues. A qualitative research methodology was applied, using interviews and observations for data collection. The results indicate that, although AI has the potential to improve learning, its unrestricted use may undermine students' motivation and ethical behavior. The study suggests that educational institutions should provide in-depth ethical training, establish clear rules regarding AI usage, and create an environment where AI acts as a complement to, rather than a replacement for, traditional learning methods.
