Eles tavam jogando a bola de neve um no outu: os gestos icônicos como evocadores de sentido em cenas pantomímicas infantis na faixa etária de seis anos

For many centuries until today, what has been solidified in the field of linguistic science is the understanding of language as monomodal (Ávila-Nóbrega; Cavalcante, 2015). In contrast to the prominent academic tradition, we insert ourselves in multimodal studies, having as theoretical pillars researchers such as Kendon (2004; 2009) and McNeill (2006; 1992; 1985), and, specifically, encompassing our interactionist nature (Cavalcante et al., 2016; among others), to focus on our investigative object that is inscribed and traces interfaces with Enunciative semantics. In the latter, we take as a basis authors such as Benveniste and the proposal of Enunciative Acquisition presented by Silva (2007). Taking as our object the statements of a multimodal narrative of a 6-year-old child, in typical language development, with his interlocutor, we aim to analyze the production of meanings evoked by the gesture-speech composition and its relationship in the composition of the statements, with special attention to iconic gestures, identifying the configuration of the I-you/he relationship throughout the interaction. The proposed research is an excerpt from the research project entitled “Hesitations in gesture and speech II: aspects of disfluency in children’s narratives” (2023-2024), funded by PIBIC. Our methodology is qualitative and involved the transcription and analysis of the multimodal envelope of the audiovisual recording of a dyad, composed of a child (6 years old) and his father, in a retelling context, using the ELAN software. Our analyses solidified our defense of gesture as a significant component of the statement. We observed and described how the gesture-speech relationship occurs within the statement and how this relates to the operational enunciative game between the members of the dyad. In addition, we were able to analyze iconic gestures, observing how they are constituted as statements that evoke meaning.
