The influence of blade wrap angle on cavitation performance of 1000 MW power plant boiler feedwater pump

As a universal fluid mechanical equipment, boiler feedwater pumps are widely used in fields such as electric power and energy. The impeller is one of the important components of the feedwater pump, and the shape of its blades plays a decisive role in the hydrodynamic characteristics of the impeller. The wrap angle in the blade parameters has a significant impact on the blade shape and the pressure and velocity distribution of the fluid on the blade surface. This article investigates the hydraulic cavitation performance of feedwater pumps at different blade wrap angles (BWAs) using a density-based modified filtered bubble model-discontinuous cavitation model and draws the following preliminary conclusions. On the basis of keeping the blade bottom angle constant, it was found that as the blade angle decreased, the anti-cavitation performance gradually weakened, and the speed slowed down at a certain angle. At the same time, the optimal comprehensive performance is achieved at a BWA of 130°, with stable and controllable fluctuations in instantaneous entropy production. It is recommended to prioritize the use of this range of blade angles (120°–130°) in anti-cavitation design, taking into account the balance between channel suppression of diffusion and energy loss.
