Design of Roller Type Manual Seeder for Direct Seeded Rice in Tanzania
This study aimed to design a roller type manual seeder suitable for Indica rice farming using DSR (Direct seeded rice) in Tanzania. It consists of a frame, plow, seeding roller, and soil covering plate, and is an efficient structure that performs digging-seeding-covered soil at once. In consideration of the multi-age class, a frame was designed to be able to adjust the angle and length, a plow was designed in consideration of the convenience of the operator, and a covered soil was designed based on a covered soil method that does not interfere with the seeds. In the case of seeding rollers, the seed spacing was designed with the goal of 1 cm, and the roller optimization was carried out through seeding experiments. As a result of the Rectangle, Zig-Zag optimal shape and layout of the roller hole, the sponge roller guide, and the optimal depth and size of the hole, the design of the manual roller seeding machine with excellent target seed spacing matching, efficiency, and economic feasibility was completed. It is expected that this seeding machine can solve food shortages and nutrition problems in many developing countries in the future.
