Shielding effectiveness analysis of high-voltage connection systems based on field-line coupling

With the rapid migration of electric vehicles toward 800V high-voltage platforms, precise simulation of shielding effectiveness for high-voltage connection systems in complex electromagnetic environments faces severe challenges. Conventional simulation methodologies typically employ full-wave analysis for holistic modeling of connector-cable systems, ensuring high computational accuracy but exhibiting significant practical limitations including excessive computational resource demands and convergence difficulties due to poor matrix conditioning caused by non-uniform meshing in complex geometries. This paper proposes a hybrid field-line coupling simulation technique where connector domains are precisely modeled via low-frequency Method of Moments (LFMoM), while cable harnesses are efficiently solved using multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) equations with connector near-field results as excitation sources. Validation against commercial electromagnetic simulation software confirms the method’s accuracy and computational efficiency.

Abstract

With the rapid migration of electric vehicles toward 800V high-voltage platforms, precise simulation of shielding effectiveness for high-voltage connection systems in complex electromagnetic environments faces severe challenges. Conventional simulation methodologies typically employ full-wave analysis for holistic modeling of connector-cable systems, ensuring high computational accuracy but exhibiting significant practical limitations including excessive computational resource demands and convergence difficulties due to poor matrix conditioning caused by non-uniform meshing in complex geometries. This paper proposes a hybrid field-line coupling simulation technique where connector domains are precisely modeled via low-frequency Method of Moments (LFMoM), while cable harnesses are efficiently solved using multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) equations with connector near-field results as excitation sources. Validation against commercial electromagnetic simulation software confirms the method’s accuracy and computational efficiency.
