Biologic switching in psoriasis: from evidence to practice
Biologic switching in psoriasis has become increasingly common as therapeutic options continue to expand in real-world practice.Although lack of efficacy remains the main determinant of switching in psoriasis, the roles of safety concerns, economic reasons, and patient preferences are emerging as important considerations of biologic switching.Furthermore, biologic switching is now regarded as an essential and routine aspect of long-term management in moderate-to-severe psoriasis, rather than a one-time therapeutic decision. This review outlines the fundamental concepts and types of biologic switching (interclass, intraclass) in psoriasis and discusses future directions for biologics from the perspective of long-term treatment sequencing.
