Analysis of magnetomotive force harmonics and inductance calculation for star-delta hybrid winding permanent magnet linear motors
The star-delta hybrid winding as a novel winding configuration, can offer a new approach for thrust density enhancement in permanent magnet linear motors (PMLMs). This paper employs winding function theory and finite element analysis (FEA) to reveal and verify the MMF harmonic distribution characteristics in star-delta hybrid winding. And then the pole-slot combination criterions are discussed in linear motors. Further MMF harmonics and electromagnetic performance under variable working conditions are evaluated comparatively. The asymmetric inductance characteristics are also analyzed. Finally, a linear prototype is manufactured and its experiment is carried out to validate analysis results.
