THE VOICE OF RESILIENCE: MOHAMMED RAFI S MUSIC AND ITS THERAPEUTIC RELEVANCE TO INDIAN YOUTH IN 2025
This theoretical research proposal investigates the enduring socio-cultural and therapeutic relevance of Mohammed Rafi’s music among urban and semi-urban Indian youth aged 18–35 in the contemporary digital environment of 2025. Rooted in the analog cinematic era, Rafi’s extensive repertoire continues to thrive through active consumption across digital platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and local karaoke clubs. Adopting a non-empirical mixed-methods approach based on digital ethnography and thematic analysis, the study establishes a theoretical framework to address three core questions: the nature of contemporary engagement, its alignment with principles of music therapy, and its function in cultural continuity. The anticipated conclusion is that the music’s enduring appeal lies in its melodic sincerity and lyrical depth, solidifying its role as a vital anchor for cultural identity and subjective well-being amidst transient modern content.
