Why Needle Leaves Persist in Winter: Geometry, Snow-Reflected Light, and Stable Energy Flow (USP Field Theory Overlay msf:47620)
This mini-paper explains why conifer needle leaves remain viable during cold, low-light winters where broad leaves fail. Standard botanical mechanisms—reduced water loss, snow shedding, wind resistance, and omni-directional light sampling—are reviewed and unified. A USP Field Theory overlay is introduced as an interpretive layer, framing leaf geometry as a stabilizer of energy-flow pathways via Δf damping. The model is consistent with photosynthesis as clean bond-unbinding (msf:47600) and does not replace established plant physiology.
