Voluntary Additional Offers as Part of a University Beginners' Course for German
At Stockholm University, people with no previous knowledge of German can take beginner courses over two semesters to meet the requirements for the studies in the Bachelor's program. At the request of course participants, voluntary additional offers were published on the learning platform in the A2 course over several semesters, e.g., links to poetry slam, short films, interviews, etc. At the end of the semester, interested students were asked to take part in a voluntary anonymous survey to give their opinion on these offerings and formal and informal learning in general. The article introduces the teaching framework and the additional offerings, and then presents the student responses.
