A Robust Co-Design Method for Ensuring Stability in Observer-Integrated Microgrids Under Sensor Attacks
The growing prevalence of cyber-threats poses significant security concerns for microgrid (MG) operations, creating an urgent need for effective attack mitigation technologies. Traditional model-based techniques, which combine observers with resilient control, offer potential solutions. However, the introduction of observers transforms the MG into an observer-integrated MG (OIMG), whose performance and stability can be affected not only by cyber-attacks but also by the observers themselves. Despite this, current resilient control strategies often overlook the impact of observer characteristics in the control design process, potentially reducing overall mitigation effectiveness. To overcome this limitation, this paper introduces a novel control design methodology that simultaneously accounts for MG dynamics and observer interactions. The proposed approach ensures stability and rapid response of OIMGs under cyber-attack scenarios by jointly designing the controller and observer. The stability and robustness of the method are rigorously analyzed through theoretical evaluations, and its effectiveness is further demonstrated via numerical simulations in MATLAB and PLECS.
