Enhancing the hydrogen evolution reaction on Ru/KTN through an RuCl <i>x</i> intermediate strategy

An RuCl<i>x</i> intermediate strategy was employed to synthesize an Ru/KTN-T catalyst for alkaline hydrogen evolution reactions. Ru/KTN-T, containing high-valent Ru, enhanced the hydrogen desorption kinetics. This catalyst achieved a low overpotential of 40.6 mV at 10 mA cm-2, outperforming similar catalysts synthesized <i>via</i> one-step methods and providing a novel approach for designing efficient electrocatalysts.

Abstract

An RuCl<i>x</i> intermediate strategy was employed to synthesize an Ru/KTN-T catalyst for alkaline hydrogen evolution reactions. Ru/KTN-T, containing high-valent Ru, enhanced the hydrogen desorption kinetics. This catalyst achieved a low overpotential of 40.6 mV at 10 mA cm-2, outperforming similar catalysts synthesized <i>via</i> one-step methods and providing a novel approach for designing efficient electrocatalysts.
