First measurement of secondary beams at the J-PARC high-momentum beam line
We are conducting spectroscopic studies of hadron physics at the high-momentum beam line (B- Line) in the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Currently, the B-Line delivers a small fraction of 30-GeV protons split from the primary proton beam by a beam-splitting septum magnet, so- called the Lambertson-type magnet (LM). It is expected that secondary particles are produced at the LM magnet since 30-GeV protons of a few hundred watts hit the LM magnet in operating the B-Line. We carried out a test experiment to measure such the secondary particles through the B-Line. This is the first step to introduce new opportunities of hadron physics and related experiments with the high-momentum secondary beams at J-PARC.
