Impact of Fruit Falls on the Yield Potentials of the Avocado Pear (Persea americana) Species

The research investigated how fruit falls affect the biological output andeconomic yield potential of avocado pear plants. The study employed alongitudinal approach, which monitors the behaviour of fruit fall in five weeksin different farms under different environmental conditions. Data collectionincludes systematic weekly observation of declining rate per tree fruit, measurement of environmental factors such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and light intensity, and laboratory analysis of hormonal levels, including ethylene and auxin. The study measured fruit fall behaviour amongvarious cultivars together with environmental conditions over five weeks.Different cultivars displayed notable differences regarding their mean fruit fallrates. Each tree of the Hass variety suffered 115 fruit drops during the firstweek, followed by 112 for Reed, 110 for Fuertes, 114 for Pinkerton, and 114for Puebla, with only 18 falling fruits. The growing pattern of ethaneproduction indicates there may be implications regarding fruit maturity stateand quality characteristics. The economic investigation established that fallingin different fruit types resulted in a revenue reduction from 8,000 Naira to22,000 Naira. This research revealed critical understandings about biological, together with environmental and economic elements that impact avocado pearfarming by presenting essential guidelines to improve crop output and reduceproduction losses.
