Pedagogical Perspectives on Technology-Enhanced Phraseological Interpreting: A Case Study of Yandex Live Stream System
Computer-Assisted Interpreting (CAI) has become indispensable in addressing language barriers within a globalized, linguistically diverse society. Its role is pivotal in facilitating effective communication, particularly in real-time multimedia translation. Despite its advancements, CAI faces significant challenges, particularly in rendering idiomatic expressions accurately due to their deep cultural and pragmatics embedding. Variations in context and culture often result in inaccurate or ambiguous translations, hindering effective communication. Additionally, the reliance on static algorithms and databases limits CAI's adaptability to new and evolving idiomatic usage. This study examines how technology supports phraseological interpreting, focusing on 80 Spanish-Russian verbal idioms. By analysing Yandex's live translation tool in real-time scenarios, it evaluates the impact of CAI on idiomatic accuracy and intercultural communication. This research evaluates technological solutions in intercultural communication, emphasizing the pedagogical importance of integrating CAI into interpreter training. Incorporating CAI enhances students’ ability to interpret idiomatic expressions while providing practical, globally relevant skills.
